Thinking its time to expand your horizons? Why not do so as a member of this hospitals growing Internal Medicine Department? Along with your professional career your lifestyle will go forward too in a city offering all that is cosmopolitan yet retaining the charm and ease of life associated with a far smaller place.
This tertiary hospital has close links to the first, and arguably foremost, University in NZ - the University of Otago. Teaching and research opportunities are available and especially encouraged by these links to the University. It is essential applicants be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand www.mcnz.org.nz
A successful candidate will have a broad general Internal Medicine background and will be expected to participate in a 1 in 4 on call roster (alternate months no after hours responsibility - thus average call 1 in 8 and 1 in 8 weekends). You will be joining a team of seven senior staff who primarily provide acute inpatient care for patients. In addition, you will provide, on average, a half day outpatient clinic per week. The outpatient clinic probably will be located at one of the rural hospitals in the Otago region of New Zealand.
The Internal Medicine physicians contribute to the professional development and supervision of the supporting team of Registrars, House Officers and students at Dunedin Hospital. Teaching sessions are a regular feature of our department and include formal lectures, weekly journal club, medical forums, grand rounds and audit meetings.
In addition to the international and cultural flavour of our University city, you can also enjoy snow skiing, windsurfing, wine country, mountains, lakes, beaches and spectacular wildlife at your doorstep! |
