Regional hospital located on the northern coast of Queensland is looking to fill the position of Emergency Medicine Staff Specialist.
The DEM currently sees approximately 33,000 cases per year with an admission rate of approximately 17% and of that the paediatric case mix is 25%.
The DEM has an establishment of 4 SMO, 7 PHOs and 7SHO/JHOs
The Department conducts an active postgraduate teaching program in Emergency Medicine. Emergency Department residents are also expected to participate in the hospital prevocational training program.
The current Department facilities include resuscitation/trauma bays, general patient bays, consultation cubicles, triage area plus lunch facilities for staff and offices. The planning stage for a new department is almost complete. The department will include 4 resuscitation bays, a 21 bed acute area, a 6 bed short stay area and fast track area.
Applicants must hold qualificatios as an Emergency Medicine Physician and be eligible for registration with the Queensland Medical Board.
