About our Client:

One of our clients is currently looking for a “Product Development Manager” to be located in the Gulf Region. The client is one of the worldwide dairy leaders; they produce and distribute more than 300,000 tons of unique and fresh dairy products annually under the slogan “Good health Tastes Great”.

Our client is a major player in fresh dairy products, juices, desserts and UHT milk in the Middle East. The company is fully dedicated to producing and delivering fresh and nutritious high-quality products every day to about 30,00 retail stores in 11 countries. This client also distributes its products daily via 35 main distribution centers in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen.


Description:

The Product Development Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating and executing dairy product development projects. This position will also provide technical research and support to the new product team and R&D team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Independently plans, manages and completes technical projects to design, develop and optimize new products with necessary shelf-life and sensory characteristics within designated time frame. Assist in the research of appropriate co-processing partners and functional ingredients to implement designated new product. Formulate new products utilizing internal bench top prototypes and pilot plant trial at an external co-processing partner, as necessary, Coordinate and facilitate plant trials and new product start up, working with vendors, production/operation, and external processing partners.

Manages and oversees some department functions (e.g. shelf life testing, product specifications, product/packaging improvements, nutritional labeling). Develops, enhances and implements procedures to support these functions. Provide leadership in the application of the scientific method and experimental design. Responsible for development/management of project plans; communication to management of project status and issues.

Support department efforts focusing on dairy projects by providing expertise in the areas of food chemistry, ingredients functions, and mathematics.

Act as a department technical leader for product development projects assigned as primary responsibilities.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor of Science in Dairy Food Science or equivalent degree, with 5 years of hands-on experience. 3-5 years functional experience (“hands-on”) of dairy product development (Fluid/fresh/ and cultured) is essential. 2 years experience in managing technical personnel. Demonstrates excellence in communications, leading, and motivating others across a range of disciplines. Strong working knowledge of food manufacturing processes, quality assurance principles, ingredient supply market, and market research practices. Understanding of food science applications, as well as packaging design. Understanding of sensory principles, labeling and nutritional programs.

Ability to speak Arabic is an advantage.
