This position provides key support and accountability for the design, integrity and operation for materials & corrosion of piping and equipment used by the Horizon Oil Sands Project.
Specific accountabilities included but are not limited to:
-Develop, review and communicate effective materials and corrosion engineering plans within the Project and coordinate work efforts with other areas of the Project;
-Review, develop and provide input for all engineering standards and specifications relating to materials, corrosion and metallurgical selection of piping and equipment for the Project;
-Provide engineering support and guidance while working with management, engineering, business development and contractor personnel for all phases of the Project;
-A key player in the development of all required planning and provides visible leadership and critical technical expertise to produce the appropriate/required materials and corrosion specifications and implementation to support a quality and sustainable design;
-Provide support and accountability for communication and coordination of supporting role to the Materials & Welding Group;
-Assist in developing, monitoring and maintaining records to support on-going equipment reliability and integrity programs, including the development of corrosion/erosion maps and programs;
-A key player in the development and review of the Horizon Chemical Management Program;
-Assists in setting the required standards/protocols to manage all required inspection, monitoring and testing etc; and
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
-Engineering degree or engineering technology diploma in Corrosion, Materials, Metallurgical or Mechanical to effectively steward a significant number of complex projects elements simultaneously.
-10+ years of extensive experience in the design/construction of large-scale projects(s) including a minimum of 5 years senior level experience in the materials and corrosion design of oil refineries and/or chemical plants is preferred. Oil Sands and commissioning experience is highly desirable.
-Registration or eligibility for registration as a professional Engineer or Technologist in Alberta is preferred.
-Strong communication, organizational, leadership, interpersonal and team skills complemented with a strong work ethic coupled with the ability to analyze, support, prioritize and deliver required results on a timely and cost effective basis are required.
-Previous experience working with or directing contractors within an EPC environment will be a definite advantage.
