The Specialist-Safety Training will work closely with Security, Medical and Emergency Services on a daily basis and with the Safety and Risk Engineering Groups on an ongoing basis to provide support to Construction, Operations and Maintenance.
Specific accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Arrange and conduct Horizon Site Access Orientations and Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) Regional Orientations, processing the required documentation and data entry
- Manage and administrate Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) program
- Develop and deliver consistent Safety Training Program communication for the project based upon Oil Sands and Petroleum Industry Standards
- Provide advice, consultation, development and related delivery of Safety Skills Training and Evaluation Services to Horizon project teams
- Investigate and recommend computerized tools for training, training booking and training tracking in conjunction with clients
- Collect, verify and administer training and evaluation certificates
- Develop administrative reports as requested by the Horizon Project
- Assist in the development and distribution of CNRL Health and Safety Management System, Safety Manuals and related materials
- Organize data / information, implementing strategies, and track issues
- Assist with preparation of monthly Safety newsletter, statistical reporting, training calendar
- Regularly attend (as required) other Oil Sands Regional Safety Skills Training Services initiatives
- Assist Horizon and Contractor Management representatives to ensure Safety Training is delivered as legislated and is compatible with CNRL Standards and Procedures
- Research Government Regulations as requested by the team or field personnel
Employment Requirements:
- Related post-secondary education preferred
- Possess a minimum of 5 years Safety Training experience (emphasis on the oil and gas industry an asset) in an industrial training environment.
- Valid CSTS and OSSA certification would be a definite advantage.
- Possess field related safety experience and can work/teach adult learners.
- Ability to obtain a valid Alberta Drivers license
The location of this position will be the Horizon Oil Sands Project located 70 km north of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
